How To Grow Your Blog Traffic Even If Your Blog Is New

- February 24, 2019
Starting a blog is very easy, when I say easy' as easy as whatever you can imaging to be the easiest thing you can do.
But the main issue is getting viewers to your blog, it may sound odd to you if you aren't a blogger but making research on how to start a blog and grow your blog traffic.
If you are battling with lack of visitors to your blog, all you need to do right now is to relax your mind and read this article very well, because I'm going to teach you how to grow your blog traffic even if your blog is new.

Every blogger passes through that, especially when you start blogging for the first time with out making research. There’s always the problem of how to attract people to your blog.

Traffic is what every blog, website or business needs to survive in the online world. If you have a blog and no one visits the blog, then it is not a successful blog yet.

Your message is not going to go across to people, you’re not going to achieve your aim, and believe me you won't like it or make enough money from it.

It’s just like opening a business and no one is coming to patronize your business.

You have to do something to make sure that people are finding your blog and they’are coming in, to consume the content you have made available in your blog.

Writing quality contents in your blog is one of the things that keeps people coming to your blog, seeing that content, reading through it and taking action is another thing.

That is where a lot of bloggers get stuck.

I have seen this many times, and I have been through this myself.

When I started blogging, one of the first problems I faced at that time was the inability to get people to my blog, and I nearly stop blogging, because I feel so discouraged.

I just didn’t know how to get people to visit my blog, read my blog posts, leave a comment and maybe share it with their friends on social media.

Like I said earlier, every blogger passes through this.

That is why in this post, I’m going to share with you how to grow your blog traffic even if your blog is new.

Or to get people to start visiting your blog and consuming the content you have in there.

Identifying the problem: Why you have no traffic

What I discovered over the years is kind of simple but easy to overlook.

If people are not visiting your blog, the problem is not the fact that people are not visiting your blog.

The problem is that you have not been able to put your blog in a place where they can find it. No traffic is the inability for people to find your blog or website. Hence, they’re not visiting.

If people are not coming to your site, it simply means they are not finding your site when they search for the kind of content you are providing, and they don’t know your blog or website.

For instance, if your blog is about Health, and I want to learn about treatment for a particular disease. I may simply do a search on Google about how to treat that disease.

If your site don’t appear on the first or second page when I do that search, I’m not going to visit your blog or website. Will I? No, because I can’t find it.

I’m going to visit one or some of those blogs on the first page when I search for how to treat that disease. The owner of those blogs have been able to get their blogs or websites on that first page.

I don’t know the owner of those blogs on the first page, and I may not have visited those blogs before.

But I'm  visiting their blogs or websites now because they have been able to rank their blog and put it in a position where it is easy for me to find it.

Sometime, I may not do my search on Google. I might decide to visit one of those Facebook book groups that talks about health, or like their page.

I might decide to go into that group and ask a question in the group about how to treat or drugs to treat that disease. Then someone who knows how to, will tell me about it.

He or she might include a link to his or her website in her answer or in her profile. Then I’ll be able to visit his/her blog or website.

So here’s the lesson in everything I’ve been saying

If you want traffic, you got to find a way to put your blog or website where people can find it when they’re searching for the kind of content you provide in your blog.

If you can do that, then you’ll get a lot of traffic to your blog or website. It’s that simple.

How to put your blog or website where put can find it

To be able to put your blog or website where people can find it, you need to understand where traffic comes from.

You need to know where people go to when they are looking for the kind of content you provide. Once you know where they go to when they are looking for the kind of content you provide, then all you have to do is to put your blog or website url in that place so they can find your site.

So Here Are The Different Places You Can Grow Your Blog traffic

1. Social Media Traffic

As a beginner one of the first place I think anyone should search for traffic is social media. Social media traffic is easier to get and it’s kind of free.

For instance, if you’re on facebook, you can share your blog among your friends and they’ll visit your blog if you share what interests them. This you can do, even if it’s the first day you finished creating the blog.

You can join facebook groups and join the discussion. Answer questions and interact with people.
Social media allows you to put your blog where people are already looking for answers that you already have in your blog.

Thus, you’re able to get the traffic that you’re looking for. So, I’ll advise that when you create a new blog, don’t worry about search engine traffic at first, because that comes with time.

Create social profiles for that blog, like a facebook page, twitter profile, reddit and pinterest, depending on the type of blog you have and where the people in your niche usually gather.

Go where they gather on social media and interact with them. Become active there and they’ll find you to your blog where they can further interact with you.

By so doing, you’ll not only get traffic from social media, but that will also optimize your site organically as it will send social signals to the search engines.

Social signals tells or shows search engines your activity on social media. If a ton of people are liking our post on facebook, it tells the search engines like Google, that people like your blog. It signals them that you’re popular on social media.

Hence they rank you higher, and they help more people to find you. But if you’re not active on social media, search engines don’t receive any social signals from your site. Hence, it tells them that your site is not important since no one is interacting with it or talking about it on social media.

So, when you create a new website or blog, you need to become active on social media for two reasons.

i. It sends out social signals to the search engines which helps them rank you higher for more people to find you.

ii. It helps drive social media traffic to your blog

2. Search Engine Traffic

Google

Whenever people are looking for or searching for stuff online, they always go to Google, Bing, Yahoo and the other search engines.

Then these search engines show them blogs or websites that talk about the stuff they’re looking for. It’s that simple.

That’s the work of search engines. They help you find what you’re looking for.

That means, if you want people to come to your blog through the search engines, you need to find a way to convince these search engines to show your blogs to these people when they search for content that’s in your blog.

That, you can do by what is known as Search Engine Optimization. SEO is simply the act of convincing the search engines that your site contains or is the best source of the information that searchers are looking for.

If you can convince Google to show a post in your cooking blog when people search for a particular kind of meal, then you must have optimized your site in a way that tells Google that your post should be the first entry that shows up when people search for that content.

So, in summary to be able to place your site right there at the front when people search for the content you provide in your blog, you need to learn how to optimize your site for the search engines. You need to learn Search Engine Optimization or SEO.

Now, when I talk about Search Engine Optimization or SEO, you don’t have to be a guru search engine optimizer or some kind of expert to be able to do this.

There are a few things about search engine optimization which if implemented in your blog or website, will help convince the search engines to show it to people when they search for the kind of content in your blog.

That I’ll talk about in another post.

So, the major thing you should learn from this section of this post is that, you should learn SEO in order for you to be able to position your content or blog in the front of people who are looking for it through the search engines.

Optimize your site for the search engine and people will find it when they search for stuff on Google or any of the other search engines.

3. Referral traffic

If I create a link on my site to Facebook, and someone visits facebook through that link. Then facebook gets a referral traffic from my site.

Referral traffic is simply traffic that does not come from search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and the other search engines.

Like I said earlier, for you to get traffic you need to put your site where people go to when they’re looking for the kind of information that you provide in your blog.

To get referral traffic, it’s the same thing. You need to become active in forums related to your niche, even on social media, because social media traffic is also referral traffic, as it is not traffic from search engines.

You need to become active in Q & A (Question and Answer) sites like quora and Yahoo answers.

Personally, I like using Quora, because it’s very easy to find questions related to your niche, and just answer the question. You can place a link back to your blog, which will allow people who like your answer to find your blog or website.

You can do the same thing in any of the Q & A sites. Just look for questions related to your niche and answer them. That will allow people to know your brand and find your blog.

Another important thing that will largely increase your referral traffic is guest posting on other active blogs related to your blog.

You need to find blogs that are more active than your blog and offer to write a Guest post for them. All you need to do is contact the webmaster or owner of that blog, using the contact form or email provided in his blog and offer to write a guest post for him/her.

If he approves your request, your guest post will give you the opportunity to connect with his/her audience.

Make sure to include the link to your blog in the guest post, as that will allow them to find you to your blog, and maybe subscribe to your email list.

4. Paid traffic

Paid traffic is the fastest way to get traffic. If you want to get traffic real fast, and you have the cash to spend, then without fail consider paying to get people to come to your blog.

All you have to do set up a PPC (pay per click) campaign on facebook or Google. Some of you probably visited my blog through facebook because you saw an ad about my blog on facebook.

That’s because I set up a facebook ad promoting my blog on facebook. You can do the same thing for your blog or website if you want to pay for traffic.

All you have to do is learn how to create a facebook ad, which is pretty simple to do.

You can also create ads on Google using Google Ads. All you have to do is create a Google Ads account, and you can pay for Google to display your ad on the top of organic search listings on Google.com.

For instance, if you do a search for wordpress themes, the first entries or listings at the top of the results are all paid ads.

5. Direct traffic

This is traffic from people who know the name of your site. They’re already acquainted with your site, so they just type it directly into their browser any time they want to visit it.

There’re many sites in my niche I visit a lot. I go to neipatel.com because of the tons of helpful tips for getting traffic he provides there.

I also visit floralove.com.ng directly from my browser, which is another site where you can learn health tips.

I don’t search for the site on Google in order to visit it. Instead, I type the name directly into my browser because I already know the name and I like the kind of content they provide.

When you create a new blog, you’re not going to be getting any direct traffic to it, unless you bought an already existing blog or domain to create that blog.

Instead, direct traffic comes as a result of the amount of work you have done to help people find your blog. It depends on how helpful your blog has been to people who have visited it in the past.

If someone visits your blog, and finds out that all the content in your blog is not helpful, he’s not going to remember the name of your blog and come back.

On the other hand, if you continually provide helpful and relevant content in your blog, people are going to remember the name, and they’re going to come back for more, by typing the name directly into their browsers.

One more thing that influences the amount of getting direct traffic to your blog is the kind of domain name that your blog has.

If you want people to be able to remember your domain name and type it into their browser whenever they want to visit your site, then you need to choose a domain name that is short, easy to spell and remember.

For instance, my domain name is www.disdaynews.com which is short, easy to spell and easy to remember. What if I  chose, www.disdaylatestnewsworldwide.com?

I don’t know why anyone would choose that as a domain name for their blog, because it’s definitely too long and will be hard to remember.

So, help yourself out and help your listeners out when choosing your domain name by choosing a simple name that’s easy to spell, easy to remember, so that they can easily type it themselves directly when they want to visit your blog.

Conclusion

If you want to get traffic, you need to put your content where people go to when they’re looking for the kind of content you provide.

To get search engine traffic, you need to optimize your content for search engines (SEO), so that you can rank higher and for more people to find your content.

To get referral traffic, you need to engage in forum discussions, Q & A sites, carry out guest posting and as well become active on social media.

To get direct traffic to your blog, then you need to publish quality and helpful content in your blog so that people will see the need to return after consuming some of your content.

To get social media traffic, you need to become active on social media.

And you need to choose a good domain name that is easy to spell and remember when creating your blog, so that returning readers or customers will not crack their skull to remember or spell your domain name, when they want to return to your blog or website

The best and easy way to grow your blog traffic even if your blog is new.
